2017-2018 STILLMAN MS BAND Materials and Supplies Checklist
____ 1. Black 1-Inch 3-ring Binder
ALL Band students (6-7-8 grade) will need one specifically for their band class. Almost all of the 7th & 8th grade students will (or should) have one from last year, however, if it is not in good shape anymore, it is probably best to just go ahead and purchase a new binder. Students will use it daily and it will count as part of their supplies grade.
____ 2. Clear Sheet Protectors
There should be at least 20 sheet protectors inside the band binder.
_____ 3. Pencils
We will be using a pencil, not a pen! Have it inside your band binder at all times ready for use. Students will use it daily and it will count as part of their supplies grade.
______4. Mirror
Beginner Band students will need a locker mirror/ small compact mirror for use in class. This is going to show them how they need to make their facial features and hand positions for their particular instrument. The mirror should be able to fit in the pocket of their binder. Students will use it daily and it will count as part of their supplies grade.
______5. Combination Lock
ALL Band students (6-7-8 grade) will need one specifically for band. Honors, Symphonic & Concert Band students should bring in their lock once school starts. Beginner Band students will need one the day the directors ask them to bring in instruments for the first time. Students will keep their instrument, binder, mirror & pencil in the band locker during the school day and then pick up their materials & supplies after school daily for home practice. NO KEY LOCKS!
_______6. BAND Spirit T-Shirt
All Band students will be able to purchase a band spirit T-shirt as soon as they become available. We will let the students know when we will be ordering the T-shirts. ALL Honors Band & ALL Symphonic Band members are required to buy the t-shirt.
_______7. Black Dress Pants, Black Dress Shoes, and Long Black Socks
This is part of the band uniform used for performances such as concerts & parades. Beginner Band students: will need this outfit plus the Stillman solid orange school polo by early October (for when we will take our panoramic picture).
Returning members: will need these items as well. They will also be issued a band uniform jacket.
